After my popular post with some humorous thoughts about minimalism I want to throw some more controversial thought into the mess and thus this post was born.
About the meaning of minimalism and what comes after you’ve done all the decluttering and is minimalism really the way to make you happy. Continue reading “Some controverse thoughts on Minimalism”
Sorry for not having posted new posts for a longer time, I’ve been busy with travel prep and leaving the country prep…
Now I finally arrived at my next destination and free library Wifi allows me to post some updates of what happened recently and how minimalistic I’m traveling now. So what happened the past 2 weeks? Well, I had to do what everyone who wants to go overseas has to do: disassemble and sell a household. This is the 3rd time already that I’m doing that and it’s kind of a routine now – I’m getting good at reducing and minimizing things to get to the essence of what’s really important.

Recently the number of minimalists on youtube has grown exponentially. A couple of years ago there was barely anything about minimalism but now, more and more people vlog about their journey towards a minimalist lifestyle. As I am a blogger and not a vlogger, I take the liberty to take the TAG from youtube to my blog and answer the questions here, because I think the last time I talked about this might be a while ago.
Here are the questions and my answers are below the cut. Feel free to take them and answer them on your own blog if you want to
1. What drew you to minimalism?
2. How did you start the de-cluttering process?
3. Have you ever counted all your things? If so, how many things do you own?
4. What are your tips for dealing with the desire for more?
5. How do you deal with non-minimalists in your life?
6. Do you have any guilty pleasures where minimalism doesn’t apply?

As a travelling minimalist, I don’t like bringing a lot of additional stuff with me, things that only have limited use so I won’t recommend stuff like bringing your own blanket or bringing an inflatable footrest because even though they are nice to have, these things are inconvenient to carry around afterwards and therefore impractical and don’t go well with my minimalist lifestyle. Instead I’ll focus on the small things that make a big difference, so here are the things that I do to make long flights more comfortable. They can also be used to make long bus rides or train rides more comfortable, so whichever way you prefer to travel, have a look at the below. It seems like this month is really determined to make this challenge challenging.
Has this ever happen to you: You set out to do something and it’s just like the universe is conspiring against you, making it incredibly hard to get closer to your goal, like it’s wanting to tell you “You thought you’d have to put no effort into this? Well here ya go, sucker!” BAM punches you and then it throws a huge bucket of shit at you while you’re on the ground and then dances on your head while singing a little song?
Well, here we go. I’m being tested by the universe!
(Ok ok, probably I’m not important enough to be tested by the universe, but I certainly feel like a VIP right now…) Continue reading “No complaint November 2”
It has been some time since I last reviewed my possessions, the simple reason being that they are so streamlined and taylored to my needs that most of the time I don’t even think about them anymore. Nevertheless, there might be people out there who are interested in seeing how minimalism works and with how little one can thrive and so I thought I might give you an update on how things work with my make up. This is a big topic especially for the ladies and it is really easy to accumulate a lot of clutter in this particular area, so this is where I start today. Continue reading “My minimalist make up”
Finding like minded people and talking to them in real life instead of blogging (which sometimes feels like shouting into a giant void) is one of my next goals.
I have never talked to a fulltime minimalist in real life before -all the “backpackers” excluded – but I have decided that I will find some here in Wellington to – for the first time in my life – talk about minimalism.
So if you are a minimalist and happen to be in Wellington or if you know somebody who is a minimalist or if you are interested in minimalism, just drop me a note in the comments or better yet send me an email and let’s meet up!
